General Description

In his work Miguel (CO, 1992) deconstructs images in search of symbols and references and inquiring about how they are made. Often in these processes he opens visual elements to link them to origins that seem strange despite belonging to them. Miguel has created a heterogeneous a series of videos that deconstruct images in search of neocolonial connections Since 2018.


Miguel Escobar (CO, 1992) is a visual artist currently based in Cali, Colombia. His videos and video installations follow processes of deconstruction in which details, references and symbolic values are isolated and reorganized. Often in his works he appropriates images to transform them giving rise to references that seem strange despite belonging to them. Miguel graduated in 2017 from the undergraduate degree in Plastic Arts at IDBA (meritorious mention), in Cali, Colombia. Subsequently at LUCA School of Arts he completed two Master of Arts degrees in Fine Arts (Magna Cum Laude) and in Photography (Magna Cum Laude), in 2020 and 2021 respectively. Since 2014 she has participated in group exhibitions in spaces such as Jenny Vilá Gallery or more recently at the Museu Nacional de arte Contemporanea do Chiado, in Lisbon, Portugal. Since 2017 she has exhibited individually, in spaces such as La Vitrina de Lugar a dudas.
