I wrote the February 2020 cover story of Smile Magazine, the official in-flight publication of Cebu Pacific Airlines. For this story, which I wrote as a contributor, I spent four days in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo— the football capital of my basketball-obsessed home country. There, we found something typical of provinces in the Philippines: the charms of a small town fuelled by big dreams.
